PETER LITMAN

 

Choral Conductor

 

 

Peter Litman originally trained as an organist at Canterbury. He holds both bachelor and master degrees in music and is also a Fellow of the London College of Music. Expanding on his organ performance skills he chose to study Choral direction under Colin Durrant and Bob Chilcott  His début as a choral conductor was in 1997 when he conducted Britten's St Nicholas in St John's Smith Square, London.

 

A experienced teacher, formerly (2005-2007) Peter was also the Conducting Pedagogue and course director at Roehampton University for the innovative MA Choral Education Course.

 

He is currently reading for PhD with Dr Colin Durrant in Choral Education and has published papers on Choral Conducting and the dynamic interaction between choir and conductor.

 

Peter is Director of Music at St Peter's Collegiate Church in Ruthin, North Wales.

 

As a guest conductor for Clovelly Recordings he has recently released the first complete recording of Maunder's Olivet to Calvary with which is now available in all major music stores.

 

Peter works with choirs of all sizes, abilities and ages, and he is particularly keen on working with younger singers developing their musical and choral education through performance.
